Performing music for an audience is no ordinary activity.

Everything is heightened in performance – our focus, our passion, our musicianship and our desire to express something meaningful. 

As the same time, performing can dramatically increase tension, nerves, anxiety, fear and our inner critics.

Our success as a performer depends on our ability to do our best work within this heightened and excited state.

Unfortunately, most musicians receive very little, if any instruction on how to manage the intense demands of performing. 

This can lead to unhealthy performance habits that limit our expression and can even lead to performance trauma.

I designed this course to explore the question:

What does it mean to be a healthy performer who consistently performs at their best? 

This course is built around Peter's “7 Steps to Performing Success” e-Book, a resource that has helped hundreds of MBMS students perform at their best.

Who It's For

This course is for any musician (vocalist or instrumentalist) who:

• Feels limited or even debilitated by performance-related issues like performance anxiety, tension, critical voices etc.
• Wants to optimize and enhance what’s already working in their performing and take it to the next level.

Class Information

This course took place on August 8-10, 2023 and all classes were recorded and are now available to watch on replay. 

The classes consist of group explorations along and individual coachings done in front of the class. All learning is practical and experiential!

This course will be taught by MBMS Founder & Director Peter Jacobson. As a music educator, Alexander Technique teacher and conductor, Peter has coached hundreds of performers over the course of his career.
