Dear Fellow Performing Artist,

MBMS Director Peter Jacobson here.

I'm delighted to invite you to this 1-day workshop for performing artists featuring special guest teacher Jeremy Chance (scroll down for bio). Jeremy is my former mentor, friend and a world-renowned teacher of the Alexander Technique.

Over his long and storied career, Jeremy has helped thousands of performing artists improve the quality of their artistic expression through his work. As a performer himself, he has a special passion and skill for working with performers.

Jeremy's teaching is dynamic, engaging and most of all, practical, which is why we're calling this a "practical application" workshop.

The workshop will consist of two kinds of instruction:

  1. Group games and activities to help you directly experience and embody the core concepts and ideas
  2. Individual lessons in which Jeremy will work with volunteers on their performing in front of the group so everyone can benefit

You will walk away from the day with new ideas and tools that you can use in your artistic work, including (but not limited to):

  • How Alexander's discoveries can be used most effectively in the act of performing
  • How to use constructive "Yes" plans to perform with more clarity, precision and freedom
  • How to use performance anxiety and nerves to your advantage
  • Easily digestible mini-lessons on the neuroscience of movement

We warmly welcome performing artists with no experience in the Alexander Technique as well as those already familiar with the work, including Alexander Technique teacher-trainees and teachers. Teachers of dance, theater and music who are interested in learning new tools for your teaching are also welcome.

The Alexander Technique has been used by thousands of performing artists for well over a century.

I hope you'll join us and count yourself among them.

Cheers,
Peter Jacobson
MBMS Founder & Director

PS – To make the workshop accessible to all, we are offering need-based scholarships. Send me an email to request an application.

Extended Training for Alexander Nerds

On Friday, April 26th & Sunday, April 28th Jeremy will be working with a smaller group of students (12 maximum). These two days of work will take place at Studio 17 (449 Portland Ave; St. Paul, MN 55102). The schedule for both days is 10am – 5pm.

These additional training days are designed for Alexander teachers, Alexander trainees and advanced Alexander students. If you love "nerding out" on Alexander's discoveries this will be a great opportunity to do that with one of the world's leading Alexander thinkers and teachers.

The fee for these 2 days is $300 (plus $150 for the Saturday public workshop, so $450 total for the full 3 days of training).

To register for these additional 2 days of training, please send me an email

This opportunity is limited to 12 7 people.
