Body, Breath, Onset, Sound!

Exploring Freedom in Wind Playing & Singing with the Alexander Technique

In This Class, You'll Explore:

  • How to move your body and air to make your best sound
  • How to make your inhale and exhale smoother with greater control
  • The importance of your head-spine-pelvis relationship in breathing and onset
  • The 2 main kind of onsets – what they are and why they're important
  • 2 exercises to help eliminate excess body tension in your playing and singing
  • 3 Alexander Technique principles that can help you gain more freedom in your playing

Class Format

This will be an interactive class that will include group activities (done behind your mute button), class discussion and individual coaching work with volunteers.

Class Instructors

This class will be co-led by Peter Jacobson and Melanie Davis. We are both certified teachers of the Alexander Technique who specialize in working with musicians. We met about a year ago and have since become good friends. To celebrate our first time officially working together, we've decided to offer this free class. We hope you'll join us for this special event!
